It is with great pleasure that we announce the start of our new associate, Dr. Jacquelyn Weber, at the Mitchell Eye Institute. Jacquelyn recently completed her fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis where she learned advanced techniques for corneal transplantation, ocular surface disease treatment, and secondary intraocular lens implantation.
As a native of Pennsylvania, Jacquelyn graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Gettysburg College. She then completed medical school at New York Medical College, with Alpha Omega Alpha Honors in the top tier of her medical school class, while also pursuing research interests in ophthalmology, and leading the Women’s Health Clinic to provide care to underserved populations in the Bronx. She finished her Internal Medicine internship at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital and was nominated as the “Best Intern,” both by hospital staff and also by her peers in the Internal Medicine Residency. Jacquelyn then moved to Washington, D.C. and completed her Ophthalmology Residency at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center. During her training she was a leader in medical student education, co-resident training and mentorship, and was nominated Chief Resident during her senior year. Most recently, Jacquelyn completed a Cornea and External Disease Fellowship at the University of Minnesota, where she mastered complex surgical and medical treatment of advanced ocular pathology.
She recently started at the practice and is accepting new patient consultations for comprehensive and anterior segment ophthalmology. She is specializing in dry eye disease, advanced ocular surface disorders, bacterial and fungal microbial keratitis, and corneal dystrophies (including Fuch’s). Dr. Weber is also performing advanced surgical procedures including deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK), descemet’s membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK), and scleral-fixated intraocular lens placement (Yamane technique).
Dr. Weber is working at both our Bethesda and Vienna offices and accepting Medicare and private insurances including Aetna, Cigna, United Health, and Tricare. For patient referrals or any questions regarding Dr. Weber’s new practice, please call our office.
We are excited to have Dr. Weber join the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia ophthalmology community!
